There Will Be Blood

with one comment

I took a break from writing yesterday to catch the SAG screening of There Will Be Blood. Holy crap amazing movie. Just as awesome was the Q&A after with PT Anderson and Paul Dano. Plenty of fan boys (One guy has seen it 6 times already. Thats a bit crazy) but PTA came off as a really cool guy. Paul Dano was underutilized, however. It turns out that he was originally only there to play the part of Paul, not Eli. PT saw him, loved him, and with three days before Eli’s first scene, cast Paul as both Eli and Paul. I find that so amazing and fascinating. Three days to prep for a role like that is insane. And I LOVED Paul Dano’s performance. It’s insane it took him three days to, at the very least, find the blossom of that character. Bravo.

There WIll Be Blood is in limited now but when it goes wide be sure to go see it. It’s a great film. Lots of ‘He’s like Kubrick’ gossip at the end. I can think of few better compliments.

  1. Hells yeah. Those opening still shots in the desert with the mountains and the disturbing soundtrack “noise” … Mood-setting throughout the entire flick. Stark visuals. Very Kubrick.
